South Indian Vada Recipe

This is a simple condensed recipe of my mother’s recipe of making Medhu Vada –

Ingredients –

  • Ultam Paruppu – 2.5 Cups
  • Ginger – 1 inch for each cup of Dal
  • Salt 0 1 teaspoon for each cup of Dal
  • Green chilli – As per preference
  • Chopped onions – Finely chopped
  • Chopped curry leaves – 1 Tablespoon
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon

Method –

  1. Grind the ultam paruppu, salt, ginger and green chilli into a fine paste in your blender.
  2. Mix the onion, curry leaves and coriander leaves into the paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, and deep fry the vada batter.
